Curaçao Minister Silvania organizes its own gambling fair

The Curaçao Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania, is organizing his own event on Curaçao in collaboration with SiGMA. ‘Minister of Finance in association with SiGMA’ will be organized on the island from 25 to 27 September. The Curaçao Invitational Poker of the World Poker Tour will also be played on September 25.

On September 25, SiGMA will organize its first gambling event in Curaçao. SiGMA will do this in collaboration with the Curaçao Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania. This was announced by Silvania on Tuesday during a seminar on the island. The minister opened the seminar with a speech, after which Sixiènne Jansen, the Ministry’s legal adviser, and Reno Saleh of the Gaming Control Board also spoke.

During the seminar, Saleh shared the first details of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance, the new gambling law in Curaçao. Silvania used his speech to reassure those present. For example, he said that little would change for the sublicensees in the first months after the introduction of the LOK.

Own event for Silvania

Silvania also shared details about his own fair in Curaçao. In collaboration with event organizer SiGMA, interested parties will travel to Curaçao from September 25 to 27 for the event called ‘Minister of Finance in association with SiGMA’. The event should “connect international parties and local entrepreneurs.”

For residents of Curaçao, this would be the perfect opportunity to ‘jump into the international gambling market’. An industry worth $ 128 billion (€ 117 billion), according to the minister. Gambling companies that apply for a license from the Gaming Control Board are required to have representation in Curaçao, which should provide more employment on the island.

The event in Curaçao will be SiGMA’s first event in the Caribbean, the minister said:

The event is sponsored by Ecorpp Management, EM Group, Girasol, impaya, and paybrokers. Those companies will also have a stand at the fair, together with the companies C.CL and Xnext. Sigma ADR and the Ministry of Finance itself are also listed as sponsors.

Tickets at € 50 or € 150 are sold through the two websites. The scholarship is free for affiliates. The event will be held at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort.

In addition to Javier Silvania, Aideen Shortt, the CEO of Lilywhite Consulting, has been confirmed as a speaker. Prior to starting her own consultancy firm, Shortt’s positions included Online Marketing Manager at Flutter UK & Ireland and later marketing director at Flutter’s Sky Betting & Gaming brand.

Poker tournament WPT on Curaçao

Coinciding with the first day of the event, the World Poker Tour will also be coming to the island. The Curaçao Invitational Poker tournament will be held on Monday, September 25. Players can qualify for the poker tournament through online satellites and through qualifiers in Curaçao’s own poker room, among other things.
